News about the protocol during which the Interim Committee of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences de Abel Salazar assumed functions. Contains a photograph of the Secretary of State for Higher Education signing the document. The ceremony was presided by the Rector, Dr. Ruy Luís Gomes and Dr. Corino de Andrade, among others. The Interim Committee of the Institute will work for the time being at the Rectory of the University of Porto, and it will have to delineate the operation and education model for the University. While visiting Porto, the Secretary of State also attended a meeting of the Governing Board of the Faculty of Arts, during which he was informed about the shortages of the Faculty in terms of facilities in view of the large number of students enrolled in the new academic year.

A cerimónia foi presidida pelo Reitor, Dr. Ruy Luís Gomes e pelo Dr. Corino de Andrade, entre outros. A comissão instaladora do Instituto irá funcionar, provisoriamente, na Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, tendo de delinear o modelo de funcionamento e de ensino a ministrar. Nesta passagem pelo Porto, o Secretário de Estado assistiu, ainda, a uma reunião do Conselho Directivo da Faculdade de Letras, durante a qual foram demonstradas as grandes carências da Faculdade do ponto de vista de instalações escolares face ao número de alunos inscritos no novo ano lectivo.
