As festas comemorativas do cinquentenário da fundação do Orfeão Académico do Porto iniciaram-se, ontem, com grande brilho

Abstract

Description of the commemoration programme of the 50th anniversary of the Porto Academic Choir and of the 25th anniversary of the University Choir, which started with a mass in honour of the choir members already deceased. Session during which compliments were paid to the Rector of the University of Porto, held at the Rectory and pictured here, and at the former Faculty of Medicine the new office of the choir was inaugurated. During this ceremony, tribute was paid to Dr. Amândio Tavares, with the unveiling of a commemorative stone. In the afternoon, a visit to the graves of some renowned members of the Choir, and a colloquium on the issues regarding the Choir, ending with a social dinner and a serenade at the Cristal Palace.

Descrição do programa de comemoração das "bodas de ouro" do Orfeão Académico do Porto e das "bodas de prata" do Orfeão Universitário, iniciadas com uma missa em honra dos orfeonistas já falecidos. Na Reitoria da Universidade do Porto realizou-se uma sessão de cumprimentos ao Reitor, captada na fotografia em anexo, e, na antiga Faculdade de Medicina, foi inaugurada a nova sede do Orfeão. Durante esta cerimónia, foi prestada homenagem ao Dr. Amândio Tavares, descerrando-se uma lápide. Durante a tarde, realizou-se uma romaria a alguns túmulos de figuras ilustres do Orfeão e um colóquio sobre assuntos relativos ao mesmo, o qual findou com um jantar de confraternização e uma serenata no Palácio de Cristal.
