O Ministro da Educação Nacional presidiu, ontem, à sessão solene de abertura do ano lectivo da Universidade do Porto e inaugurou o novo Lar Universitário de Nun'Alvares

Abstract

Formal opening of the academic year 1956-1957 at the University of Porto, attended by Engineer Leite Pinto, Minister of National Education, accompanied by the General-Director for Higher Education. After the official reception in honour of the academic authorities in São Bento, the delegation inaugurated the new Lar Universitário de Nun'Álvares [residence hall] and attended an official lunch. In the afternoon, a formal event took place with the reading of the "Activity Report" by Professor Amândio Tavares and prizes were awarded to outstanding students. The keynote address entitled "Homemade medicines at the beginning of the nation" was presented by Professor Aníbal de Albuquerque, Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. In the end, the Orfeão Universitário distinguished the Minister with the title of honorary member of the choir group. Contains two photographs of the event.

Abertura solene do ano lectivo de 1956-1957 na Universidade do Porto, com a presença do Eng.º Leite Pinto, Ministro da Educação Nacional, acompanhado pelo Director-Geral do Ensino Superior. Após a recepção oficial das autoridades académicas em São Bento, a comitiva inaugurou o novo Lar Universitário de Nun'Álvares e seguiu para o almoço oficial. De tarde, realizou-se a cerimónia solene com a leitura do "Relatório de Actividades" pelo Dr. Amândio Tavares e a entrega dos prémios aos melhores alunos. A Oração de Sapiência "Boricários e Mezinhas nos primórdios da Nacionalidade" foi proferida pelo Dr. Aníbal de Albuquerque, Director da Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade do Porto. No final, o Orfeão Universitário condecorou o Ministro como sócio honorário do agrupamento. Contém duas fotografias do evento.
